Willis Ray Prine

Willis Ray Prine, 77 of Taylorsville, MS passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 08, 2021, at his home in Taylorsville.  He was born Saturday, December 02, 1944, in Heidelberg, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Taylorsville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery in Taylorsville, Mississippi. Dr. Frankie Clark will officiate. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Mary Barron Jordan, Mrs. Mary Lou Robertson, Mrs. Lisa Shelby, and Mrs. Mitzi Ashley.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements.

Willis Prine was born at home at Heidelberg, MS. He was the oldest of his siblings. He attended Heidelberg High School and played multiple sports. After graduating high school, he attended JCJC. He later went to work offshore in the oilfield where he excelled in his career and later retired as a production engineer for Chevron. His hobbies included golfing, mowing the grass, and planting flowers with his wife, Joyce. He spent his free time playing with grandchildren, traveling with his wife, spending time by the pool, and being a devoted member of FBC Taylorsville. He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Leonard Prine; mother, Florine S. Prine; and brother, Gary Don Prine.

Survivors include his loving wife of forty-two years, Joyce Blakeney Prine of Taylorsville, MS; four sons, Tim Prine (Ginger) of Holton, KS, Wesley West of Taylorsville, MS, Brian West (Rhonda) of Taylorsville, MS and John West (Jessica) of Braxton, MS; four daughters, Marie Prine Mullen (Ben) of Ocean Springs, MS, Sherry Prine Gerald (Wyatt) of Mobile, AL, Gayla Blakeney Gunnell (Cooper) of Laurel, MS, and Kacey West Jones (Jacob) of Taylorsville, MS; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas C. Prine (Dorothy) of Laurel, MS; sister, Patricia Ann Prine Long (Jim) of Wakefield, VA;  sister-in-law, Charlette Prine of Oak Grove, MS;  special close friend, Lynn Horn; special care taker and friend, Barbara Agee Stephens of Taylorsville, MS; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Mark Phipps, Gene Blakeney, Larry Robinson, Joe Parker, Garland Smith, and Mike Cowart.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Blakeney, Roy Moss, Ken Odell, and Cooper Gunnell.
