Lamkin, Jr.
January 26, 1949 – April 11, 2026
William McLain Lamkin Jr., 77 of Braxton, MS went to be with his Lord on Saturday April 11, 2026, surrounded by his family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 16, 2026 at Star Baptist Church in Star, MS. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lamkin Sr. and Jane Douglas Lamkin; and one brother, Douglas Lamkin.
Mr. Lamkin loved music, reading, animals, and especially his wife's cookies. He was married for thirty-eight years to the love of his life, Harriet. For thirty-five years, he served in the National Guard. A devoted Christian, he was a member of Star Baptist Church. Mr. Lamkin attended Provine High School and earned a master's degree from Mississippi College. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years, Harriet Blakeney Lamkin; best friends, Mary Ann Blakeney and Linda Croft Poole; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn Bray, Meg Williams, and Lucy Tullos; neighbors, Gary and Tracy Mendow and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Star Baptist Church or any no kill animal shelter.
