Obituary

William Denny Thompson

August 13, 1952 – May 29, 2026

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of William Denny Thompson on May 29, 2026. Born on August 13, 1952, in Washington, Denny was a vibrant soul whose life was a testament to living fully and loving deeply.

He was the beloved son of the late William “Bill” Denson Thompson and Mary Alice Sever. He was predeceased by his sisters Lorrie Marker and Juliana Thompson and several other dear family members.

Denny is survived by his brother James Wesley Thompson, his seven children, grandchildren, and a large extended family of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends whose lives were touched by his warmth and humor.

A proud member of Pipeline Local Union 250, Denny worked as a dedicated pipe fitter in California before retiring and returning home to Mississippi. He was a faithful member of Kennedy Springs Baptist Church and found great joy in the outdoors — hunting, fishing, and gardening. He especially treasured time spent with his family, and nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than watching Everly and Mason grow.

Above all, Denny will be remembered for his booming laughter, quick wit, and big heart. Though he loved to tease and joke, he was fiercely loyal and caring. He never missed an opportunity to call his daughters, checking in with them often, sharing stories and reminding them how much they were loved. The world feels a little quieter without his voice, but his spirit and laughter will live on in everyone who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3,2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Celebration of Life Services will be held Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. Burial will follow Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Wade Mathis will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent via Cash App to $dallasjuliana.

Denny will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on through all the lives he touched. May we honor him by living with the same joy, love, and mischief he brought into the world.
