Born on February 17, 1966, Virginia was known lovingly by many as “Mama G,” a name that perfectly reflected the comfort, love, and care she gave so freely to everyone around her. She was selfless by nature, gentle in spirit, and always the first person to show up when someone she loved was hurting or in need. No matter the circumstance — big or small — Mama G had a remarkable way of knowing exactly when she was needed, and she never hesitated to offer help, encouragement, or simply a listening ear.
Her greatest love in life was her family. Virginia adored her two boys and, no matter how grown they became, she never stopped seeing them as her babies. She poured her heart into creating special memories for those she loved, especially during the holidays. Christmas at Mama G’s house was nothing short of magical. To her grandchildren, it often seemed as though Santa brought just as much — if not more — to her home than anywhere else. It was never because she had an abundance of money, but because she possessed an abundance of love. Throughout the year, she carefully and thoughtfully searched for bargains, planned ahead, and sacrificed quietly so that every birthday, holiday, and celebration would feel special and unforgettable for her family.
Virginia shared a beautiful and devoted marriage with her husband, Billy Glenn Bynum. The bond they shared was evident to everyone who knew them. Even when apart, they were almost always on the phone together — a reflection of the deep friendship, loyalty, and enduring love they carried throughout their life together. Through every season of life, they stood side by side, supporting one another with constant love and devotion. Their marriage was built on laughter, faith, companionship, and a closeness that never faded with time. Anyone who spent time around them could quickly see that they were not only husband and wife, but truly best friends.
Some of Virginia’s greatest joys came from simply being present for the people she loved. She treasured time spent with family, cheering enthusiastically from the stands at her grandchildren’s ballgames, attending Christian concerts, teaching Sunday school, serving others in her community, and caring for her chickens so she could share fresh eggs with family, friends, and neighbors. She found true happiness in giving to others, and she had a rare gift for making every person around her feel important, valued, and deeply loved.
Mrs. Bynum was a dedicated member of New Life Pentecostal Church in Taylorsville, Ms.
Virginia’s legacy is one of unwavering love, generosity, faith, and devotion to family. The memories she created, the kindness she extended, and the lives she touched will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Though she will be profoundly missed, the love she gave so freely will remain a lasting comfort to those she leaves behind.
