Virgil "VP" Womack

Virgil Paul "VP" Womack, retired Chief Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, 92 of Morton, MS went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was born Friday, October 10, 1930, in Rankin County.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, MS with the funeral service to follow at 11:00am at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, Mississippi. Bro. Danny Adams and Bro. Tommy Miles will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

Chief Master Sergeant Womack was a dedicated member of White Oak Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on and restoring classic cars. He retired from the Military after 42 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his father, U. D. Womack; mother, Blanche Miley Womack; sister, Joyce Womack Dillion.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Emogene Boone Womack; daughter, Deborah Womack Blackmon and her husband Joe of Magee, MS; sisters, Sybil Womack Turnbull and Glenda Womack Pittman (Ray); nieces and nephews; and a special friend who became like a grandson, Tom Miles.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Bowman, Chuck Turnbull, Jim Overby, Jimmy Paul Means, Jerryl Derrick, George Boone, and Tom Miles.
