Violet was a resident of Mendenhall Mississippi since 1966 and a member of Rials Creek Church.

Violet was born in Yugoslavia at the onset of World War II. She witnessed firsthand the occupation of her village by the Nazis. When Violet was 17 years old, in 1957 she migrated to Columbus, Ohio and started her American life. In one year she learned to speak, read, and write in English. She got a job and an apartment and has been independent since that time.

In 1963 Violet met the love of her life, Jim Brown. Jim was in the Air Force and stationed at the Lock Bourne Air Force Base in Columbus, Ohio. They met at the Burger Boy and were inseparable. Violet and Jim married, had their first child, and then Jim brought her back to his hometown of Mendenhall, Mississippi. Violet had gone from living in a big city to the country backwoods of Mississippi and she loved it!

Violet lived a full life establishing a home, building her family, taking the best care of her son and daughter, working for 27 years at Universal Magnetic, loving her co-workers, her family, her church family, and her Sunday school class. Violet also traveled the world, seeing and doing everything she ever dreamed of.
