Obituary

Vera Bradis Windham, 93, of Taylorsville, MS, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. Born on June 29, 1932, in Taylorsville, Mississippi, Vera was a special lady known for her love of cooking and baking, especially her Christmas cookies. She was meticulous in her appearance and home, making weekly trips to the beauty shop a ritual.

Vera was a special lady in many ways. Cooking for her family and friends gave her much joy. She especially enjoyed baking Christmas cookies to share with everyone. Just as she kept her home immaculate,  her appearance was also kept in order. Each week a trip to the beauty shop was made. With every hair in place, the week was complete.

She found much happiness with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She rocked each one when they were small while singing "Love Lifted Me". This was a special memory she made with them. Her strength of will could be seen in her unwavering faith. Setting her apart was her ability to handle challenges. With her unique personality, along with an inspiring level of self reliance, you always knew where you stood. She suffered with grace through the loss of her beloved husband and other dear family members.

She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Taylorsville where she got much joy working with the children of Mission Friends. She was member of the Eastern Star. In true "Vera Nature" the core values are trust, respect, kindness, and support of one another.

Vera was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Robert Windham, her parents Claude and Daisy Ainsworth Robinson, her brothers Bob and Jimmy Robinson, and her sister Kate Pitts. She is survived by her sons George Windham and James 'Bubbie' Robert Windham, Jr., her daughter Cynthia Boykin and her husband Bobby, her sister Debbie Phillips, her grandchildren Carlee Windham and her husband Josh Seabrook, Justin Boykin and his wife Jennifer, and Abby Boykin, her great-grandchildren Brady Boykin and Ally Grace Boykin, and her special niece Robin Carpenter.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at First Baptist Church Taylorsville, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the service. Burial will take place at Fellowship Cemetery in Taylorsville, Mississippi. Dr. Frankie Clark will officiate the services, with arrangements handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville.
