Robert Lee Sorey passed away March 31, 2025, in the VA nursing home in Collins, Mississippi.  He was born August 18, 1943, to Clark M. and Mary Cline Sorey.  He is survived by his loving wife Lou Alice Sorey of 57 years, and his son Judge Stanley Sorey (wife Alison) and daughter Shanna Sorey Matthews (husband Jeremy) and his three grandchildren, John Robert Sorey, Meg Matthews Delk (husband Cameron), and Mallory Matthews.  He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law Ms. Lottie Hollingsworth.

Robert was a dedicated employee of Southern Pine Electric for over 45 years, and served in the Mississippi Army National Guard for over 24 years. He served as a deacon at 1st Baptist Church in Raleigh, Mississippi, was a Mason, a Gidion, and an inductee in the Jones Junior College Hall of Fame for his outstanding performance on the football field during his time as a student athlete.

Robert loved God, his Country, and his family. As devoted husband and father he loved spending time with his family, and friends making special memories.  He will be remembered for his integrity, honesty, and love.

Graveside services will be held at Calvery Presbyterian Church Cemetery, in Smith County, on Wednesday, April 02, 2025 at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Smith County Gideons.
