Obituary

Peggy Jane Everett Pettis, 70 of Magee, MS entered the healing hands of her Savior on Wednesday, February 02, 2022 at her home in Magee, MS surrounded by her family. She was born Monday, August 20, 1951 in Magee, Mississippi.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Magee City Cemetery. Bro. Andy Delancy will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

Peggy was of Baptist faith, having been baptized at the age of 16 at Goshen Baptist Church, where she attended with her Grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Everett.  She began her working career at Magnetek fluorescent ballast company then spent over twenty years at Arnold Apparel (later Magee Apparel) where she initiated the process of jean production by sewing on the yoke piece.  She worked with family members at Wendy's in Magee and retired from Piggy Wiggly's Deli in Magee.  She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.  She was a talented seamstress, with abilities ranging from creating formal gowns for her daughter's events to custom-made window curtains. She enjoyed traveling with her family and visiting National Parks.  She created many scrapbooks, which documented her many travels and life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Darrell Pettis;  father, Curtis Everett;  mother, Virgie Nichols Everett;  brothers, Billy Ray Everett,  James Everett and Curtis  Everett, Jr.;  father-in-law, Edgar Pettis;  mother-in-law, Vida Creel Pettis Whitley;  brother-in-law, Edgar (Buddy) Pettis , Jr.;  and sister-in-law, Priscilla Dianne Pettis Edwards.

Survivors include her daughter, Vickie Ann Pettis Cooper (William) of Huntsville, AL;  her pride and joy grandson, William Everett Cooper, all of Huntsville, AL;  sisters, Glenda Sue Roberts of Mt. Olive, MS, Joyce Everett Montgomery of Mize, MS, Virginia Ann Everett Allen of Mize, MS;  sister-in-law, Florence  Elizabeth Adcock (Glenn) of Florence, MS.
