Mellie L. Salley 94 of Magee, Mississippi passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. She was born April 11, 1931, in Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 pm at Salem Baptist Church in Raleigh. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Salem Baptist Church in Raleigh. Burial will follow in Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Cemetery in Bay Springs, Mississippi. Bro. Anthony Grayson and Bro. Stevie Hand will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031.
Mrs. Salley loved working in the garden and yard, as well as being outdoors. She had a passion for flowers and raised chihuahuas for over 50 years. Additionally, she enjoyed quilting and sewing.
She was preceded in death by first husband, Castlo (Buddy) Rayner, parent, Marvin and Mittie Johnson; daughters, Diane Nichols, Jo Ann Gregory, Mary Katherine Tyndall; son, Steve Rayner; three sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include her husband, Preston Salley; sons, Frankie Rayner (Ann) and Jerry Rayner (Terri); grandchildren, Henry Nichols, Josh Nichols, Aaron Jackson, Ashley Odom, Frankie Alan Rayner, and Kira Gregory; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; and host of nieces and nephews, and other family members.
Pallbearers will be Dale Hester, Rodney Hester, Scotty Traxler, Frankin Alan Rayner, Willie Dale Rayner, and Kane Alan Rayner
