Lyndon Talmadge Millis Jr.

Lyndon Talmadge Millis Jr. 84, of Florence Mississippi lost his battle with cancer but found victory in Jesus on April 12, 2024.

Talmadge was a lifelong resident of Simpson County and was born to Lyndon and Mardell Millis on December 28, 1939. He graduated from Pinola High School and was a devoted Deacon and member of Main Street Baptist Church in Mendenhall. He was a retired framing subcontractor who loved the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing on the Strong River, hunting, turkey calling, growing vegetables, picking blueberries in his garden, singing, riding on his lawn mower and, more than anything, he enjoyed his morning coffee. he was a devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather (Pawpaw) who loved spending time with his family and his fur baby Shadow.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Bettye Ruth (Whitfield) Millis, a son, Michael Millis, a daughter, Terri (Corkey) Garrett, 3 grandchildren, Brandi LaShay (Chad) Wesley, Meagan (Cody) Roberts, Devin (Kaitlyn) Millis, 5 grandchildren, Slaydin Adams, Parker and Blakeleigh Roberts, Emmie, and Ella-Ann Millis.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lyndon Talmadge Millis Sr., mother, Mardell (Jones) Millis, infant brother, Charles Danny Millis, grandparents, Bill and Beulah Millis, Jim and Julie Jones and in-laws, Howard, and Nell Whitfield.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS from 5:00-8:00 pm.  A Celebration of Life will begin on Thursday, April 18, 2024 beginning at 1:00 pm. at the funeral home officiated by Bro. Matt Armstrong and Bro. Devin Millis. Interment will follow at the Mendenhall Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Corkey Garrett, Devin Millis, Cody Roberts, Chad Wesley, Larry Creason, and Slaydin Adams.

Special music will be performed by Chad Wesley and Jamie Waltman Lake.
