Lora Janet Riley September 21, 1957-August 28, 2026

Lora Janet Riley, a lifelong resident of Smith County, passed away on August 28, 2026, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.

Lora Riley was a member of Sardis Baptist Church in Smith County, Lora will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She is preceded in death by her father, D.W. Puckett; her mother, Iva N. Puckett; and her sister, Diana Gibbs.

Lora is survived by her lifelong partner, R. M. Riley; her beloved children, Kathy Powell and Carl D. Powell and his wife Tonya, and grandchildren, April Saffold, Austin Riley, Britney Fields (Caleb), Gabby Powell, and Gabriel Powell; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Jackson, and David Fields; and her sister, Dewana K. Perry (Carl).

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sardis Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Sardis Baptist Church in Smith County. Burial will follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Anthony Garyson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 501-849-5031.

Serving as pallbearers are Bradley Blades, Carl Perry, Scott Gibbs, Eric Gibbs, Paul Powell, and Isaac Powell, with R. M. Riley and Kenny Powell serving as alternates.
