In Loving Memory of Katie Ruth Baxter

Katie Ruth Baxter, 82 of Magee, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2026. Born on November 15, 1943, Katie was a beloved daughter, mother, nana, aunt and friend whose love, strength and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristi Austin and husband Howard “Cowboy” Austin of Salem Arkansas; Joe Smith of Burleson, Texas; Denver Smith of Lanton, Missouri and bonus daughter, Angela Turner of Magee, MS.

Katie was the proud Nana of Chase Jordan, Jennifer Maddux and husband Shaun, Katie Ruth Smith, Zackary Sharber Smith, Chris Austin, Zack Bynum, Makena Smith, Jordan Clark and bonus grandson Mason Sullivan.

She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Levi, Brenna, Tank, Lily, Alyssa, Emily, Hudson, Lana, and Kaden along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

Katie was preceded in death by her son, John; daughter, Shawna, grandson, Lee; the love of her life, Richard, her mother and father and three sisters.

Katie will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to her family and friends, the memories she created, and the lasting impact she left on those fortunate enough to know her.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Texas.
