Kathy “Neicey” Barber, 76 of Taylorsville, MS passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026 in Laurel, MS. She was born on November 3, 1949.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the service at 1:00 PM at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Taylorsville, MS. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylorsville, MS. Bro. John-David King will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031.
Neicey will be remembered for her warm heart, deep faith, and the love she shared with those around her. A devoted member of Raleigh Jesus Name Church, Neicey found great joy and strength in her spiritual life, which guided her kindness and compassion toward others.
She cherished her family above all else and took great pride in her role as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and unwavering support to generations of her family. She was also a caring sister and a loyal friend, always ready with a listening ear or a helping hand.
Neicey had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Boomer, who brought her constant companionship and happiness.
Her legacy is one of love, faith, and devotion—qualities that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy “Bear” Barber; daughter, Michelle Strickland; Parents, WB and Loraine Yelverton; Siblings, Carl Joe Yelverton, Danny Ray Yelverton, and Elouise Cooley
She is survived by her son, Michael Strickland (Angela); Grandchildren, Blake Strickland (Chloe), Mason Strickland (Tiffany), Maddox Strickland; Great Grandchildren, Ella and Storme Strickland, Ace and Dylan Strickland; Siblings, Donald Wayne Yelverton, David Yelverton, Judy C. Fant, Sandra Jones (Doyle), Jane May; and her fur baby Boomer.
Pallbearers will be Steve Cooley, Jason Cooley, Austin Walters, Maddox Strickland, Mason Strickland, Blake Strickland, Joseph Yelverton, and Ethan Cargile.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her beloved dog Boomer and the members of Raleigh Jesus Name Church.
