James "Jimmy" William Ellzy, 76 of Mendenhall, Mississippi went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at the Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall, Mississippi surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born Monday, October 13, 1947 in Mendenhall, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall in Mendenhall, Mississippi. A Graveside service will follow at Mendenhall City Cemetery in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Bro. James Smith will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Jimmy was an avid outdoorsmen, loving to hunt, fish, and spend time with his grandchildren building deer stands, and teaching them to ride four-wheelers. He enjoyed working in his yard, especially when he was able to use his tractor. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a Deacon. He retired from Coastal Industrial Contractors after many long years in the industry, making many close friends along the way. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Ellzy; mother, Eva Magee Ellzy.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Linda Palmer Ellzy; daughters, Chasity McQueen (Steve), Alisha Walker (Bobby) and Robyn Baeuerle (Shane); son, James Ellzy, Jr. (Jennifer); grandchildren, Matthew McQueen, Ella McQueen, Jake Walker, Andy Baeuerle and Luke Ellzy; brothers, Billy Ellzy (Karen) and Ken Ellzy (Charlotte); and a host of other family, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Bennie Palmer, Billy Ellzy, Robert Mangum, Justin Mangum, Steve McQueen, and Bobby Walker.
Special music will be performed by Tiffany Mangum.
