James "Pete" Randall Gates, 79 of Puckett, MS passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the Brandon Court Nursing Home in Brandon, MS. He was born Tuesday, April 4, 1944 in Puckett, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall in 3077 Simpson Hwy 13, Mendenhall, Mississippi. Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 11:00AM at Puckett Cemetery Burial will follow in Puckett Cemetery in Puckett, MS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Schofield Gates; father, John Eddie Gates; mother, Willie Mae Lewis Gates; brothers, J.E. Gates and Charles Ray Gates; sisters, Ruby Jones and Jean Gates.

Survivors include his daughters, Lynn Crowe (Howard) and Shannon Lyle (Dan); grandchildren, Aaron Crowe, Jessica Stafford (Michael), Cal Crowe, Reese Lyle and Gates Lyle; brother, Bill Gates;  great grandchildren, Braxtyn Jones, Zoey Stafford, Caroline Crowe and Matthew Stafford.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Crowe, Cal Crowe, Gates Lyle, Ian Gates, Bradley Jordan, and Michael Stafford.
