James Anthony Purvis, 63 of Pearl, MS passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at his sister's home in Mendenhall, MS. He was born Friday, December 26, 1958, in Jackson, MS

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, MS. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 09, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, MS. The burial will follow in Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Magee, MS. Bro. Danny Dickerson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

James was a true ambassador for Christ. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cooking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Lester Purvis and Nell Davis Purvis; brother, Stephen Lester Purvis.

Survivors include his brother, Aaron Purvis (Anita) of Florence, MS; sister, Susan Rankin (Kenneth) of Mendenhall, MS; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Rankin, Aaron Purvis, Adam Purvis, Noah Purvis, James Meadows, and Ronnie Germany.

A special thank you to Kindred Hospice and everyone who took care of James through his illness, especially the staff at UMMC Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. James spent a lot of time with you and we are so grateful for the care, love, support, and compassion that you shared with him and with the family. Also, we are thankful for the thoughts, prayers, and visits from family and friends. This has been such a difficult journey for us and just being able to have someone to talk to has meant so much.
