Obituary

George Stephen "Steve" Griffith
(1/25/1960 – 12/9/2023)

George Stephen "Steve" Griffith was born Monday, January 25, 1960 in Jackson, Mississippi. He left this life, way too soon, on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the age of 63.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 11:00am at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Mount Olive, Mississippi. Bro. Trent Sullivan and Phillip Lehner will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031.

Steve worked for many years in the flooring industry. At 50, he told his favorite sister, Tracey, that he always wanted to be a truck driver, and that's what he did.  He absolutely loved it.  He drove his entire career for Prime Inc. and earned many driving awards throughout his time with them. The best gift Steve received in his lifetime was the birth of his granddaughter, Lucy. She had him wrapped around her little finger, and she brought out a side of him that was truly heartwarming to see.

Steve was a quiet, unassuming person, who was always there to take care of his friends and family. His kindness and generosity touched many lives. For himself, he never asked for much and never complained. In fact, he could find humor in very trying circumstances.  He was perceptive and thoughtful. We all knew he loved us, and he will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Wayne Griffith; mother, Mary Earlene Brown. Griffith; maternal grandparents, GP Brown and Era Brown; paternal grandparents, Noah Griffith and Sybil Griffith.

Survivors include his son, Logan Thomas Griffith (Vina); grandchild, Lucille Grace Griffith; brother, Herbert Wayne Griffith; sisters, Vicki Lynn Williams (Marvin), Cindy Grace Jones (Bill) and Tracey Lee Williams (Dixon).

Pallbearers will be Josh Henry, Marvin Williams, Phillip Lehner, Dixon Williams, Daniel White, Joshua White, Chuck Butler, and Clint Butler.

Honorary pallbearer will be Dev Lott.

Special music will be performed by Billy Barnes.
