Obituary

Earl Reed Pruden Earl Reed Pruden of Mize, Mississippi, passed away on May 26, 2026, at the age of 69. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Reed graduated from Forest Hill High School. He went on to earn an Associate Degree from Hinds Community College in 1976, a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Mississippi College in 1978, and completed a four-year Electrical Apprenticeship Program through the Mississippi ABC Apprenticeship Program. Reed dedicated more than 40 years of his life to the electrical industry. Throughout his career, he was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and willingness to mentor others. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and helping those around him grow professionally. Reed took great pride in overseeing and organizing construction projects and found satisfaction in seeing projects through to completion. 

His career included 8 years with Adco Electrical, 17 years with Edwards Electrical Service (1989– 2006), 4 years with Kirkman Construction, 8 years with B&B Electrical Utility, and 6 years with Muses Electrical (2018–2025). He truly loved his work and valued the relationships he built throughout his career. Above all, Reed loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His greatest joy was being surrounded by those he loved. 

Reed was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Imogene Pruden, and his brother, Doyle Pruden. He is survived by his children, Michael Pruden (Lacey), Morgan Banks (Henry), and Devin Pruden (Amber); his grandchildren, Brooklyn Pruden, Haleigh Pruden, Brantley Pruden, Karter Banks, Kynslee Banks, Grant Pruden, and Beau Pruden; his partner, Monica Williams/Pruden; his sisters, Joyce Peden (Bill) and Elaine Layton (Bobby); his nieces, Wendy Young (Matt), Heather Knight (Justin), and Melissa Truax (Jon); his nephews, David Layton (Andria), Eric Pruden (Lindsey), and Brian Pruden (Nicole); and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends. 

Services will be held at Colonial Chapel in Magee, Mississippi. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1st from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Services will be officiated by Pastor Kyle Magee.
