Dorothy Melissa Smith, 79 of Morton, MS passed away Monday, January 29, 2024 at the Ochsner Rush Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi. She was born Monday, July 3, 1944 in Bastrop, Louisiana.

A Graveside service will be held by the family at Sardis Baptist Cemetery on Saturday February 10, 2024 at 10:00am. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Wayne Smith; sons, Roger Dale Ruffin, R.C. Kilcrease Jr., Robert Edgar Kilcrease, and Jeffrey Dwayne Kilcrease; father, Buel Edgar Ruffin; mother, Myrtis Marie Gray Ruffin; brothers, Curtis Milton Ruffin, Dewey Calton Ruffin; sisters; Elizabeth Anne Aulds, Carolyn Jeannette DuPont, and Connie Sue Ruffin.

Survivors include her sisters, Helen Ruffin-Chambers, Mary Ruffin Scott, Dean Hutchens and Frances Bullock (M.D.); grandchildren, Michael Kilcrease, Robbie Kilcrease, Jonathan Kilcrease, and Cassandra Parks; and a host of great grandchildren, family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Sardis Baptist Church, 1945 SCR 514 Morton, MS 39117.
