Dorothy Jean Blakeney, 74, of Taylorsville, Mississippi, died Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was born Saturday, March 3, 1945.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Taylorsville, Mississippi.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 13, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Taylorsville. The burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery. Reverend Frankie Clark will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. (601) 785-6564

Mrs. Blakeney retired after twenty-five years of service as the Deputy Town Clerk for the Town of Taylorsville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Mrs. Blakeney was a Christian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde David Blakeney Sr.; her parents, Shelton B. Sellers and Hester Thompson Sellers; a daughter-in-law, Crystal Blakeney; one grandson, Shelton Blakeney; her grandmother, Bena Thompson; and two brothers, Ben Sellers and Billy Sellers.

Survivors include three children, Melissa Blakeney, and her fiance', Mark Phipps, and Clyde David Blakeney, Jr., and his wife, Pam, all of Taylorsville, and Jan Morgan, and her husband, Dave of Hudson, Florida; two sisters, Sue Dollar, and her husband, Marion, and Mary Ann Hill, and her husband, Kenny, all of Taylorsville; four grandchildren, Amanda Lane, Terry Smalley, Breanna Smalley, and Anna Grace Purser; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mark Phipps, Daniel Booth, David Blakeney, Gus Thompson, Allen Eason, and Michael Blakeney.
