Donald Fred Laird, 83, of D’Lo, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026.

Fred was born on December 5, 1942, in Florence, Mississippi. He was the son of Joe D. Laird and Audrey Laird. He graduated from high school in 1960, attended Hinds Junior College, and later graduated from the University of Florida Forest Ranger School.

Fred dedicated his life to the timber and land business, a career he was passionate about. He was also a devoted deacon in his church and had a lifelong love for old cars, especially street rods.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe D. and Audrey Laird; his brother, Joe A. Laird; his sister, LaVerne Compere; and his beloved wife, Sara B. Laird.

Fred is survived by his son, Michael K. Laird, and loved like a son Jairo Ramirez.

Fred’s warmth, faith, and humor touched many lives. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall from 10am -11am followed by a graveside service at 11:30 am in Mendenhall Cemetery on Thursday October 8, 2026.
