Craig Alan Gunter, 64 of Mize, Mississippi passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Friday, April 3, 1959, in Collins, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi 39111.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Bezer Cemetery in Raleigh, Mississippi.  Bro. Norris Ables will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

Mr. Craig was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Raleigh, Mississippi.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend.  He spent his life as a heavy equipment operator.  His love he had for his wife, children, and grandchildren will never end, but he will forever be in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Gunter; mother, Macy Wade Gunter; brother, Billy Michael Gunter; nephews, Josh Gunter and Mark Lalonde; father and mother-in-law, Don and Ann Thornton.

Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-four years, Joanne Thornton Gunter of Mize, MS; five children, Van Alan Gunter of Adairsville, GA, Chris Matthews (Krysti) of Mize, MS, Bryant Gunter (Kala) of Adairsville, GA, Whitney Dearmon Toney (Mark Thames) of Mendenhall, MS and Katelyn Gunter Bailey (Jake) of Dallas, GA;  twelve grandchildren, Kayleb Weathersbee of Dallas, GA, Cheyenne Gunter of Adairsville, GA, Brayden Toney of Mendenhall, MS, Kingston Bailey of Dallas, GA, Levi Matthews of Mize, MS, Anne Marie Toney of Mendenhall, MS, Landon Bailey of Dallas, GA, Zane Gunter of Adairsville, GA, Holdon Matthews of Mize, MS, Camryn Sherrill of Dallas, GA, Ty Matthews of Mize, MS, and Grant Matthews of Mize, MS;  brother, Jimmy Lewis Gunter (Glenda) of Mize, MS;  cousin, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends;  brother and sister-in-law's, Marty and Stepheny Scott of Bay Springs, MS, Tommy and Charla Thornton of Taylorsville, MS, Hazel Gunter of Mize, MS; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Van Alan Gunter, Bryant Gunter, Chris Matthews, Mark Thames, Jake Bailey, and Billy Templeton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Robinson, Darrell Speed, Mike Sullivan, and Jimmy Lee Stewart.
