Obituary

Chrysteen Flynt
D'Lo
Chrysteen Warren Flynt went gently into the arms of her Heavenly Father on August 27, 2010 at the age of 99.
A life-long resident of D'Lo, Mrs. Flynt delighted in sharing the rich history and fond memories of this town she loved.
A graduate of D'Lo High School, Mrs. Flynt attended Delta State College and graduated from Mississippi Southern College with a degree in elementary education. She taught for thirty-seven years in Simpson county, most of the time at Mendenhall Elementary School.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society for women educators and served as president of the Simpson county Teachers' Association from 1964-1965. One of her greatest joys was to recall the accomplishments of her former student whom she dearly loved.
Music was a central part of her life from an early age. She was a soloist of her high school class and sang on the radio in Jackson and Hattiesburg. She also sang while the reels were changed at silent movies. She continued singing at churches, funerals, Eastern Star chapter meetings and many church and community events. She also served as pianist and organist in almost every church she attended since graduating from college.
Some of her happiest moments were spent in her flower garden, and she enjoyed meeting with friends at the D'Lo garden club.
Mrs. Flynt was an inspiration to family and friends who sought her wise counsel. They were uplifted by her faith in the power of prayer and her belief in the power of a positive attitude.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John A. Warren, Sr. and Effie Bowman Warren, her husband, William Vardaman Flynt; her sister Marguerite Smith and six brothers, Hugh Warren, Sr.,Clyde Warren, Rev. Wallace Warren, John Edward Warren, Jack A. Warren, Jr. and James Ray Warren.
She is survived by her children, Sandra and husband Bill Patterson, Dianne and husband Randy Prince and Joel and wife Laura Flynt, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Monday, August 30, 2010 at 10:00 at D'Lo Baptist Church with burial in D'Lo city Cemetery. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall.
