Charles Evans Thompson, 88 of Magee, MS passed away Monday, January 2, 2023 at the Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall, Mississippi. He was born Monday, February 19, 1934 in Smith County, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Kennedy Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 06, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Kennedy Springs Baptist Church in Magee, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Kennedy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Magee, Mississippi. Special music will be performed by Andrew Hudson. Bro. Wade Mathis and Bro. Andrew Hudson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031.
Charles began his career as a Boilermaker. He worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron and Pitt Des Moines Steel. He started out as a helper and worked his way to foreman. He followed this trade for many years. He traveled throughout the United States and foreign countries, Denmark, and Gobi Desert. He was an avid farmer having cattle farm, chicken farm, and spreader truck chicken fertilizer in which his brother, Bill was a partner. He loved working his tractor and planting his garden. His favorite profession beginning at age seventy- two was driving a 18 wheeler.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Rodgers; parents, Preston H. Thompson and Juanita Thompson; brothers, Burnell Thompson, William D. Thompson, Thurman Thompson, Herman L. Thompson, and Kenneth Thompson; sisters, Deloris Hardin, Patsy Orander, and Joann Smith.
Survivors include his wife of forty-six years, Kathy Warren Thompson of Magee, MS; son, Charles K. Thompson of Magee; daughter, Tonya Thompson of Brandon; one granddaughter, Kamala Neel (Val ) of Yazoo City; two great- grandchildren, Allison Neel and Cotton Neel; brothers, Larry D. Thompson of White Oak and Steve Thompson of White Oak; sister, Dovie Nimmo of Meridian; and a host nieces and nephews and other family members and his beloved dog, Pete.
Pallbearers will be Ken Thompson, Will Hutchins, Brandon Middleton, Kenny Lofton, Herman Thompson Jr., Billy Luckey, and Ricky Rayborn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Denny Thompson, Larry Warren, Gayther Craft, and Tim Hardin.
