Billy Joe Runnels, 86 of Mize, MS went to his heavenly home on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA. He was born Thursday, April 29, 1937 in Mount Olive, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, MS. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11:00am at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, 1-299 Pickering Ln, Raleigh, MS. Bro. Pete Pearson and Bro. Brad Lowery will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

Billy retired around 2008, he drove a truck for years and was a member of the Teamsters, if it had wheels on it, he could drive it (or so he said). He loved to watch wrestling, feed the chickens, and spend time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wanda G. Allen Runnels; daughter, Joann Pinter; father, Eddie Runnels; mother, Ora Asline Sims Runnels; and grandchild, Stephanie Pinter.

Survivors include his sons, Ray Runnels (Sandra) of Mize, MS, Randy Runnels (Kelli) of Flint, TX and JoeJoe Runnels (Stephanie) of Albany, LA; daughters, Tammy Sullivan (Michael) of Mize, MS and Darlene Dickerson (Dave) of Magee, MS; 11 grandchildren, Stacy Pinter, Stanley Pinter, Samantha Ducksworth, Eric Runnels, Ashley Davis, Ryan Runnels, Amber Long, Jeremy Sims, RayAnne Bishop, Sara Runnels and Billy Runnels; brother, Verlon "Burr Rabbit" Runnels of Mize, MS; sister, Doris Watkins (Jerry) of Laurel, MS; son-in-law, Jerry Pinter of Mount Olive, MS; 26 great grandchildren; and a host of great great grandchildren, family, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ray Runnels, Randy Runnels, JoeJoe Runnels, Ryan Runnels, Eric Runnels, and Michael Sullivan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Pinter, Jeremy Sims, Billy Runnels, Reggie Kennedy, and Jason Murray.

Special music will be performed by Reggie Kennedy and Dena Lowery.
