Betty Jean Case, born March 15, 1933, in McComb, Mississippi, lived a life defined by faith, family, service, and a sincere love for others.

Betty was the daughter of Ellis Prescott and Mary Alice Robinson Prescott. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ellis Prescott, Jr. and Robert “Bobby” Prescott; and her beloved husband, Rev. Charles Case, Sr., who passed away on March 1, 2007.

Betty and Charles were married at East McComb Baptist Church following a Sunday morning worship service. Their marriage began with a lifetime of shared ministry, devotion to family, and faithful service to the Lord.

Betty committed her life to Christ and served faithfully alongside her husband throughout his ministry. As a pastor’s wife, she played an active role in the church. She taught Sunday School, worked with Girls in Action, participated in the Women’s Missionary Union and choir, and served wherever she was needed. Betty and Charles also served together as Baptist Home Missionaries among the Navajo people in New Mexico. That time of ministry became an important part of their life together.

Education was another meaningful part of Betty’s life. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Southern Mississippi and devoted her career to teaching children. She taught at West Marion, Pinola Elementary, and Mendenhall Elementary. She retired after teaching third grade at Mendenhall Elementary. Her patience, kindness, and gentle spirit served her well in the classroom and in every area of her life.

Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Mendenhall, where her faith remained central to her life.

Betty leaves a large and loving family to cherish her memory, including her children, Mary Louise Brown, Theresa Ann DeBold, Deborah Jean Dear, and Charles Murray Case, Jr.; her grandchildren, Mica Brewer, Blake Brown, Joshua DeBold, Caleb DeBold, Rita Moore, Cammie Clark, Brennen Dear, and Anna Grace Dear; her great grandchildren, Connor Bergeron, Lexi Porter, Bryson Brown, Blakley Brown, Adam Moore, Nate Moore, Jonas Moore, Jayce Clark, Noah Clark, Andrew Clark, and Lynnie Grace Jenkins; and her great great grandchildren, Charlie Lou Bergeron, Lakin Bergeron, Saige Parker, Elliott Moore, and Iris Moore.

Funeral services will be held at Colonial Chapel in Mendenhall, Mississippi, Saturday, October 3,2026. Visitation is at 9:30 am with the service starting at 11:00 am. Graveside interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, Mississippi.

Betty’s legacy will live on in the family she loved so deeply the students she taught, the churches she served, and the many people who were blessed by her kindness and gentle spirit. To her family, however, she was much more than the roles she filled. She was a steady presence, a source of encouragement, and someone whose love could be felt in the simplest moments, such as sitting around a table, sharing a game, enjoying a conversation, or simply being together.

Those who knew Betty will miss her warmth, her quiet strength, her laughter, and the way she made time with family feel special. Her life was a beautiful example of faithful service, enduring love, and genuine care for others. While her absence will be deeply felt, her family is grateful for the many years, memories, lessons, and traditions they were blessed to share with her.

It is comforting to know that the faith Betty carried throughout her life never wavered. She spent her years loving the Lord, serving others, and investing in her family. Though saying goodbye is difficult, her family finds peace in knowing she is now at home with the Savior she faithfully served and reunited with those she loved who went before her.

Her family will continue to carry her with them in the stories they tell, the games played around the table, the lessons she taught, the faith she demonstrated, and the love she poured into generations of her family. Betty Jean Case was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed, but the imprint of her life will remain in the hearts of her family for generations to come.
