Barnette "Bud" Broocks, 78 of Mendenhall, MS passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born Monday, September 2, 1946 in New Orleans, LA.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee, 302 Eighth Ave SW, Magee, MS. A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 11:00am at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Mendenhall, MS. Bro. Paul Barnard will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031

He was preceded in death by his father, Barnette Mills Broocks; mother, Nellie Martin Broocks;  sisters, Mary Catherine Broocks, Nannie Belle Broocks Womack.

He is survived by his daughters, Gwendolyn Carol Broocks Truelove (Rockye), Sandra Kay Broocks Grant (Kevin) and Stephanie Renee Broocks Purser (Jeremy); step-daughters, Bridget Havens and Jennifer Riley (Brian); sister, Florria Broocks Carrell (Jimmy); 9 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
