Annie, known by her family as Annie Ruth or Aunt Annie Ruth, was known to many of her neighbors as Granny and was called MawMaw by her good friend, Shadrital's daughters. She was a little lady in stature but was quite a character and definitely a firecracker. Annie loved babies and children and every new baby in the family was "her baby"! She loved God, her church, and her church family. Annie was also a dog lover and has always had a dog that she loved on and treated like her baby. She will be missed by Tiny, her latest spoiled pup. Annie's favorite pastime was thrift store shopping and she loved new clothes. Pink was Annie's favorite color and wearing pink to celebrate her life Saturday would be a nice way to celebrate her and her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Puckett; father, Clifton Matthews; mother, Vader Blackwell Matthews.
Survivors include her brothers, Hubert Matthews and Rudolph Matthews; sisters, Pearl Wilson, Bonnie Rushing (James) and Hoy Lee Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; special friend, Shadrital Tanner.
Pallbearers will be Virgil Matthews, Melvin Wilson, William Wilson, Mitchell Wilson, Victor Rushing, and Channing McNeal.
